Red Funnel's Charity of the Year programme saw the firm donate £30,000 to Aspire.

The cash windfall was part of an annual tradition following a successful year of fundraising by the ferry operator and its customers in 2023.

Red Funnel staff underwent a series of fundraising campaigns while raising awareness about Aspire.

Based in Ryde, Aspire offers a multitude of services across the Island in conjunction with the Isle of Wight Council and various volunteer partners.

Funds raised provide spaces to alleviate loneliness and isolation by promoting social interaction and skill development.

Red Funnel's Charity of the Year programme started in 2015, raising over £335,000 for local charities. The 2024 charity beneficiary is Isle of Wight Foodbank.

Trevor Nicholas, CEO of Aspire, said: “Aspire is extremely grateful for the support we have received from Red Funnel and its customers over the past year.

"The money raised will help us to continue supporting the most vulnerable members of our community through friendship and practical support.

"This year alone we’ll provide over 8,000 free hot meals to people along with assistance, advice and purpose as we help build up the community here on the Island."
